Experienced Business Controller supported finance team during transitional period and year-end reporting, while ESG expert helped to develop and implement CSRD reporting
In the summer of 2024, Witted Megacorp Oyj faced a transitional period in the finance department as the company was short on resources and were in the process of recruiting a new Business Controller. To maintain continuity and uphold their financial management while recruiting a permanent successor, they chose to reinforce the team with an experienced financial consultant from NIS, Annika Tuomala as Interim Business Controller.
Annika promptly integrated into Witted’s finance team, bringing a wealth of expertise in financial management, reporting and forecasting. She oversaw daily financial operations, refined reporting processes and ensured orderly financial controls. Upon the successful appointment of a new permanent Business Controller for Witted, Annika’s Interim Business Controller role evolved to support the finance team through the critical year-end reporting period.
Towards the year-end Witted also recognized a need for consultative support as the company prepared their first sustainability report in compliance with the new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Witted found an ESG expert Aura Koikkalainen from NIS as a perfect partner to provide specialized guidance and support in developing comprehensive ESG reporting to meet the new requirements.
Aura developed further Witted’s double materiality analysis, guided the ESG data gathering processes and assembled the preliminary sustainability report. In addition, she enhanced Witted’s staff members’ knowledge of the new requirements by organising internal trainings.

By collaborating closely with both the finance and operational management, they facilitated accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, delivering actionable insights that supported key business decisions. With the help of our two NIS consultants Annika & Aura, Witted’s finance team successfully prepared comprehensive financial and annual statements in time, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and liaising with external auditors to facilitate a smooth audit process.
Throughout this transitional period, the consultants from NIS used their professional expertise to maintain and significantly strengthen Witted’s financial and ESG reporting practices, contributing positively to Witted’s ongoing growth and stability.
